Who is Dr. Aurelia VonTress?
Hi! I’m Aurelia. My friends call me Ari. My story, like yours most likely, is complicated.
Like you, I’ve tried a lot of things. In past life chapters, I have been a drama geek, a world traveler, a magazine editor, a doll maker, a farmer, an almost nun, an artist, a calligrapher, a blogger, and a fountain pen addict. Today, I continue my trend of taking on way too many things but killing it anyway by being a writer, planner addict, friend, daughter, mentor, life coach, and, most importantly, the dog mom to the best furbabies you could ask for.
How did I become a coach? I came to this place honestly. At 31, I was six years into a five year degree (it ended up taking seven) and making no progress. I was living in my childhood bedroom ten hours away from all my friends and working part time as an adjunct. A couple coaches later—Molly Mahar, a stellar life coach, and Dr. Amy Boyd, a dissertation coach—and I had my PhD, a full time teaching job in my field, and felt happier and more myself than ever before. Coaching changed my life and I want it to change yours. Work with me and we’ll explore the depths of who you are and find your favorite self. Coaching is a practice of becoming and I’m here to help you become your most dreamy, favorite self.

I work with women who are frustrated, women who are tired of feeling like they don’t know who they are: women who look in the mirror and don’t know or understand the person looking back at them. Together, we explore the values, beliefs, and dreams that make up the client and discover who their dream or favorite self could be. Then we do the work of becoming or getting closer to that dream or favorite self. Ultimately, my goal is to help you find your sparkle and become your favorite version of yourself.

Some clients find themselves wondering what the difference between coaching and therapy is.
First, Therapy takes place with a licensed psychologist who is qualified to diagnose and treat mental illnesses. Coaching takes place with a certified coach who works with clients to improve their lives.
Second, therapy is best for someone struggling with mental health or a situation that is causing them severe discomfort. Alternatively, coaching is best for someone who is working through or toward things like goals or a new profession.

YES! Coaching can absolutely be used in conjunction with therapy to help improve your quality of life but should never be used as a substitute.
Self Knowledge comes from within — and I’m here to help you find it.
